Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good and let your soul delight itself in abundance. Isaiah 55:2
Am I labouring and spending money on something which cannot satisfy? Is the fruit of my labour squandered on that which is not bread?
“My food,” said Jesus is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.” John 4:34.
That is the bread which will satisfy. We need to be careful that we don’t get caught up working for something that’s not true bread, or spend our time and energy striving for something which isn’t worth the wages we spend on it. We all spend our lives on something, but is it to buy food which is good for our souls?
