Wesley Methodist

Wesley church is based in the Hamilton suburb of Fairfield, a low to the medium socio-economic residential area of the city. It is located midway between Hamilton East and the growing suburb of Rototuna. We meet at 11.00 am on the 2nd , 3rd and 4th Sundays.

The Wesley congregation is comprised of a predominately palangi/pakeha mix of people, as we have Pacific Island people who also worship with us. There is a spread of ages represented, from young adult through to the elderly. The numbers attending a worship service vary between 6 and 10.

Attached to the Wesley church is a hall which is often used by community groups during the week. It is also used as a church by a congregation from another denomination on Sunday mornings.

Also on the Wesley church site is old age pensioner housing. About seven 2 bedroom units are provided for use by the community. A number of the residents who reside in these units attend the church. This is an important service to these people as they do not have their own transport.

There is a plan to redevelop the Wesley church site. The church building is more than 90 years old and just meets the Church code for earthquake strength. It is hoped to provide a new design that will give more flexibility to the people who will use it.

The Wesley congregation is not a large group of people, but they are loyal supporters of the church and the Parish. They are very supportive of each other and enjoy the intimacy that a small group of people can provide. We would welcome anyone who is looking for a place to worship God. We would love to meet you and welcome you into our midst.
