“Laughter and love and the delighted surprise of totally unexpected joy; these are not merely the trappings of Christmas, but the very substance OF ITS MEANING.
God calls us to savour these experiences, to open ourselves to them and let them fill our souls.
This is not in denial of the world’s pain and sorrow, but in the knowledge that such experiences are the instruments that equip us for creative confrontation with life, as they overflow into lives around us, to combat sorrow, suffering and death. So this week, let us prepare ourselves to live Christmas.”
