  Harvest &Thanksgiving

LENT 6

Welcome & Gathering In:

Welcome to you all this Sunday morning, as we continue to stay safe in our bubbles, we reflect on our Harvest Sunday and remember our Children this Palm Sunday as we keep them safe during this lockdown period, and continue to commit their lives and our families in the loving hands of our Lord and Saviour.

Call to worship

The time for harvest is close at hand.

What have we done with gifts God has given us?

We have brought our gifts to the house of the Lord.

Praise God for the gifts and for opportunities for service that they represent.

We  praise God for all the ways in which

our lives have been blessed.

Generous God, accept our gifts and our lives this day.

Loving God, accept our praise and gratitude. Amen

Let us pray

Thanksgiving for Food.

We thank you, God,

for food the food that nourishes our bodies, giving us strength for living.

The food around which we gather, facilitating our fellowship.

The foods that taste sweet, bringing pleasure with each mouthful

And the savoury foods bringing spices into our lives.

We thank you for earths fruitfulness.

For the fertility of the soil, for the moisture of the rain

For the light and warmth of the sunshine,

All required for plants to grow and animals to thrive.

We thank you for the seasons of planting growing and harvesting,

And for the folk who do the planting, the tending and the harvesting.

We thank you God for food, we are grateful that we have enough food.

And are shocked that some go hungry.

Bless our offerings of autumns abundance,

The food we bring to celebrate the harvest festival.

May this food be a blessing for families in need.

In all seasons of the year, bless those who give,

And those who give out food from foodbanks,

and bless those to whom the food is given.

In a world of plenty, none should go without.

We thank you, God for food. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving and Confession:

Father, as we celebrate this season of thanksgiving

We give thanks for the blessings of food,

provision and nourishment.

Please grow in us a harvest for the world.

Come sow a seed of hope within our souls Lord,

that we might yield goodness,

patience and kindness in abundance.

Sow a seed of peace in our lives Lord,

that we might bear the fruits of forgiveness,

compassion and righteousness.

Come sow a seed of love in our hearts Lord,

that others would reap the blessings of family,

friendship and community.

May each seed of hope, peace and love grow within us

into a harvest that can be feasted on by all.

Amen.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thankyou for walking with us through the seasons

of our lives .

For the winter , when we are held safe in your arms

 through the darkness.

For the hope of spring, as we are filled with new

 promise and life.

For summer time, full of warmth and colour and for

Autumn days as leaves fall to seed new growth.

 You are always with us.
